چکیده

Channel capacity; Decode-and-forward; Half-duplex; Iterative decoding; Polar coding; Relay channel Abstract In this paper, a novel transmission protocol based on polar coding is proposed for the half-duplex degraded relay channel. In the proposed protocol, referred to as the partial message relaying, the relay only needs to forward a part of the decoded source message that the destination needs according to the exquisite nested structure of polar codes. Theoretically, it is proved that the scheme can achieve the capacity of the half-duplex relay channel under the decode-and-forward (DF) cooperation strategy while enjoying low encoding/decoding complexity. Practically, in order to minimize the global transmission power, the optimization of the power allocation is performed between the source and the relay by using information theoretic tools. Furthermore, a joint iterative soft parallel interference cancellation receiver structure is developed to suit to the proposed scheme. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme outperforms the conventional scheme designed by low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes. a 2014 Production and hosting by Elsevier Ltd. on behalf of CSAA & BUAA.

Capacity of the Degraded Half-Duplex Relay Channel

A discrete memoryless half-duplex relay channel is constructed from a broadcast channel from the source to the relay and destination and a multiple access channel from the source and relay to the destination. When the relay listens, the channel operates in the broadcast mode. The channel switches to the multiple access mode when the relay transmits. If the broadcast component channel is physica...

Polarization of Multi-Relay Channels: A Suitable Method for DF and CF Relaying with Orthogonal Receiver

Polar codes, that have been recently introduced by Arikan, are one of the first codes that achieved the capacity for vast numerous channels and they also have low complexity in symmetric memoryless channels. Polar codes are constructed based on a phenomenon called channel polarization. This paper discusses relay channel polarization in order to achieve the capacity and show that if inputs of tw...

On the Achievable Rate-Regions for the Gaussian Two-way Diamond Channels

In this channel,we study rate region of a Gaussian two-way diamond channel which operates in half-duplex mode. In this channel, two transceiver (TR) nodes exchange their messages with the help of two relay nodes. We consider a special case of the Gaussian two-way diamond channels which is called Compute-and-Forward Multiple Access Channel (CF-MAC). In the CF-MAC, the TR nodes transmit their mes...

Bits Through Relay Cascades with Half-Duplex Constraint

Consider a relay cascade, i.e. a network where the source node, the sink node and a certain number of intermediate relay nodes are arranged in a line. We assume that adjacent node pairs are connected by error-free (q + 1)-ary pipes. The following communication scenario is treated. The source and a subset of the relays wish to communicate independent information to a common sink under the condit...

Capacity of the Two-Hop Half-Duplex Relay Channel

Although extensively investigated, the capacity of the two-hop half-duplex (HD) relay channel is not fully understood. In particular, a capacity expression which can be evaluated straightforwardly is not available and an explicit coding scheme which achieves the capacity is not known either. In this paper, we derive a new expression for the capacity of the two-hop HD relay channel based on a si...
